Brazil 0 x 1 Argentina

November 17, 2010

The world's's that simple.

Mano Menezes has just experienced his first loss in charge of Brazil – and to their biggest rivals.

It was Argentina’s first victory against Brazil in five years. Despite all of his flaws, vilified manager Dunga never lost to Argentina while in charge of the team, between 2006 and 2010.

But all of that now lies in the past…

And Messi – brilliant, brilliant Messi – finally scored a goal against the Samba Boys…

You know, that was my prediction for the 2010 World Cup Final:

Brazil 0 x 1 Argentina.

South Africa 2010 was to produce, according to my Nostradamus skills, the first all-South American final since 1950.

I had Brazil losing because I wanted to appear humble.

I had them losers according to the score, but moral winners through a superior performance on the field – naturally.

I have little to say about today’s performance. It was an uneven match…a classic friendly.

But, as many Brazilians pointed out, one team had Messi…while the other had Douglas (uh?).

The final result only makes sense, if you think about it.

And that’s all.
